Vintage African Tuareg Iferouane Cross Pendant Handmade Berber

Description

This Iferouane cross was made by the Saharan Berber people know as the Tuareg of Niger.  The purpose of these crosses varies according to who you ask.  This cross is particularly well artistically detailed.  The diamond-shaped extensions at the bottom are actually three-dimensional, fatter than the flat metal of the rest of the cross (except for the horizontal strap around the neck). The cross is signed on the back.  There is a loop for hanging the cross as a pendant at the top. The cross is 4" tall and 2 1/4" wide and weighs one ounce.  The color is a silvery brass or bronze most closely resembling that shown in the photo #2 (with the ruler) with the vertical neck line being more silvery than the rest.
