Set Of (2) 1800's Antique CHESTNUT BALUSTERS Hand-Turned Tapered OCTAGON ORNATE.
Your buying a set of 2 Painted Balusters needed for each step. I stripped 1 baluster just to satisfy my own curiosity and yes they are Chestnut from before the early 1900s blight.
Turned from a 2 1/8” Block, long baluster measures 31 1/2” tall and short one measures 27 3/4” long not including 1” dovetail at bottom.
Every time I handle one of theses vintage balusters I think of the time period and the craftsmanship it took to turn each one the same and how they crafted the Octagon taper. Especially with the tools that they had available. Then to think they had to dovetail each one into the steps.
I do have a large group of theses balusters to maybe complete your stairway handrail.
