Description
The Ghana 50 Cedi banknote from 2015 is part of the 2012 - 2017 series. Its obverse side features a portrait of the six leaders of the United Gold Coast Convention; Kwame Nkrumah, Ebenezer Ako Adjei, Edward Akufo-Addo, Joseph Boakye Danquah, Emmanuel Odarkwei Obetsebi-Lamptey, and William Ofori Atta. The Freedom and Justice arch in Independence Square, the national emblem, a star, a stack of nine gold bars, and a cocoa pod in green-to-blue SPARK are also part of the front design. The reverse side features the Christiansburg Castle, the seat of the government building in Accra, and gold bars. The note is 153 x 77 mm in size and contains a red-to-green windowed security thread with demetalized GHANA 50 to enhance its security features. Placing the note under a UV light would reflect a watermark image of Tetteh Quarshie, a cocoa pod, electrotype 50, and cornerstones.
