    Wearable Cast Copper Alloy African Anklet Money Bracelet. 2 3/4 lbs of solid copper/copper alloy.  Beautifully incised or chased designs. 2 3/8" interior diameter.  (The color is more copper red than it appears from the photos.)
    Identification from Charles J. Opitz (2000) "AnEthnographic Study of Traditional Money" and from the Hamill Gallery 2003Exhibition. Bracelets of brass and other copper alloys were used as wearableprestige items of wealth and as currency in Western Africa from the late 15thto early 20th Centuries.  Good condition.
