Use natural qualities of barley straw to deter algae in water and on surfaces in your pond or lake. It works in ponds, water gardens and various other types of waterscapes. Perfectly safe for koi, and other fish and plants. This will treat up to 6,000 gallons of water for 4 to 6 months.
Barley straw does not kill algae, instead it simply prevents any more of it from growing. Most effective when used early in the season before the algae has a foothold in your water feature. For best results, suspend the bag not near the top or the bottom of the water, but rather towards the middle. This can be easily done by tying some string around a brick or rock around the bag to keep it suspended at the desired depth.
